Nit picking
We live in a culture where there's lots of nit picking, that is, people looking to find fault in things. I looked up that expression to see where it came from. I was not surprised; the tedious task of picking lice and their eggs, the picking of nits.
I know a family who has head licein the household, and the expression is apropos.

A new decade
People are saying that today starts a new decade. I am not sure if I agree. It is my understanding that 2001 - 2010 is a decade, and 2011 - 2020 is another decade.
