Making rustic furniture

Yesterday, as the Urbana Farmer's Market (which is now indoors at Lincoln Square Mall), I was attracted to the booth of the Woodlanders who make rustic furniture. These folks make furniture, ornaments, art, etc from twigs and pieces of wood. Dan Mack has written several books about this.

I also love looking at chain saw art and sculptures.

Maybe I need to spread my wings and dabble in this. The national Woodlanders group holds several workshops, including one in Wisconsin (a four hour drive from here)with a weekend of hands-on experience to learn how to make things.

Has anyone done this?
